A Monday game of croquet at our wonderful, scenic club. Have a guess who the two players in the foreground are. Big prizes for correct answers!

Bob Howie, President

Welcome and Thank You

A special welcome and thank you to our members who have joined recently, and who are now all organised for a full year of croquet. Welcome back to the players of previous years who have re-joined. It’s lovely seeing these familiar faces.

The fees for the 2022-2023 financial year have been set at $450pp. Thank you to all members for your prompt payment.

The COM has decided to offer a $50 refund to those members who were financial during 2021-2022 and were impacted by the Covid closures and wet weather shutdowns during the 2021-2022 financial year, ending 30/6/2022. If you paid your fees in full and would like your $50 refund, please contact our Treasurer who will organise the refunds in August.

For many who believe that croquet is only ever played on wet lawns, let me assure you that this is indeed not the case. They will once again be dry and the greenkeeper will be able to return to rolling, in order to continue improving the surface. To promote camaraderie, and certainly fun, the Games Captain, Diana Mears, and the Secretary, Laurice Rogers, have organised get-togethers for games of a different kind at the clubhouse. These are proving to be very popular as members are playing and learning (for some) a variety of board, card and tile games.

Coaching Report

On Tuesday 16 August at 12:00 midday there will be a refresher coaching session for any member who may wish to revise the various stroke shots and to learn more about tactical choices for each shot. The session will be approx an hour and a half so you may like to bring a snack and water. The session will be aimed at those members who have joined since March 2020 but any member who would like some refresher pointers is more than welcome. No need to pre register, just come along.

Some of our club certified golf coaches will be attending a coaching refresher day in early September that the CNSW coach, Pam Gentle, is leading.

Sue Yule, Coaching Co-ordinator

Games Report

We now have members who have kindly offered to teach Association Croquet plus several coaches for Ricochet, so now is the time to learn something new. No pressure!! The Gateball demo, cancelled due to rain, will be re-organised shortly.

Social Clubhouse Games on Tuesday at 11am are going really well, rather noisy and good fun. If you play cards, Canasta/Bolivia, 500, Euchre etc, do come along, we’d like to start a group. Cards provided….

I’d like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding yet again, throughout July, with all the rain disruptions, it’s greatly appreciated. So onward and upward, let’s get out there and PLAY!!

Diana Mears, Games Captain

Dear Members,

Thank you so much for coming to our Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, and helping to make it the special time that it was.

Together, we contributed to the $11,244,852 raised across the country… incredible!

The team at Cancer Council have gotten in touch and asked me to pass on their thanks too.

Your donations will go a long way in helping them provide vital support services to ensure no patient or family faces cancer alone, as well as fund ground-breaking research into gentler and more effective treatment methods – to help create a cancer free future.

And an update ... we actually raised $540, which is more than originally thought, due to donations on our webpage. Thank you. I can’t wait to do it all again next year!

Your friend,

Penny 💛

Bonnie & Dennis Johnstone from Stratford New Zealand. Good players and great to have them visit our club
