An invitation to Our Newer Players
An invitation is extended to our members who have more recently joined EDSACC Croquet Club, to come along to the General Meeting, Tuesday 17th May at 9am. Of course, we are hoping that all the regulars are in attendance also. The Committee of Management will ensure that the agenda allows us to move along quickly, so that we all can enjoy a lovely morning tea, namely, The Biggest Morning Tea, undertaken to assist in raising funds for Cancer research. This is a special event which will take place each morning from Monday 16th May through to Saturday 21st May. Members are simply asked to donate on the day and enjoy a sumptuous feast. Be sure to remember to bring along some change to assist this very important research program to continue. By joining in with this special event, you will get to know more of your fellow club members and you will also see how the meetings are conducted and should you wish, have your say. Gail Cannon, Vice President

Farewell to John & Loz On Tuesday 10th May from 3pm all members are welcome to come along to say farewell to John & Loz who are moving back to Canberra. BYO drinks and nibbles, have a game if you want, or just sit and chat. They have been with EDSACC since 2016 and have been very involved in all club activities, also representing our club at many competitions they enter each year across NSW. Canberra’s gain will be our loss. Best wishes from the members. Laurice Rogers, Secretary

Games Captain Report Very little play has been possible this month due to the rain affecting the lawns a great deal, plus a very large flock of Ibis (bin chickens), have taken up residence in the area and are finding plenty of grubs in our lawns, leaving little pile of earth all over the 4 lawns!!! Check emails before leaving home for updates. Unfortunately, both Div 2 & 3 had to cancel Pennants games this week due to the rain. Here's hoping for sunny, windy weather to dry out the lawns in the next couple of weeks so the CREIGHTONS SINGLES COMP 15 & 22 May can go ahead. However, WE NEED MORE PLAYERS ON ALL LEVELS EVERYONE IS WELCOME So, ask a friend or partner (yours or someone else’s as long as they play croquet) turn off the TV, get off the couch and come along for some fun & good games. REGISTER NOW ….. YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU !!!! We are still looking for a Tournament Co-ordinator – someone who can organize and delegate. We have several members, some experienced, who are happy to assist, so if you would like to be involved, please contact me or any member of the committee Diana Mears, Games Captain

Coaching Report The next intake for beginner's golf croquet is due to commence on Thursday June 16. If you know of anyone who would like to learn to play golf croquet, could you please ask them to contact me on 0421308830? If any current members would like some extra help with any aspect of their game, could you please contact me and I will arrange for this to take place.Sue Yule, Coaching Co-ordinator

Cleaning

The Blue Team is responsible for cleaning during May.

Nelson Bay Croquet pennants game Thursday, 21st April.

We are happy to announce that we are hosting Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea From Monday 16th May to Saturday 21st In previous years we have been very successful in raising vital funds for Cancer Council’s life-saving research, prevention programs, information and support services. The idea is to bring along a plate of delicious morning tea goodies and to drop some coins or notes into our donation box. (Of course, you are only obliged to do this once during the week.) As well as our usual “Guess the Teapot” game ($2), which always adds to our coffers, we have a “Tea-rivia” game ($5) this year. Come and join in the fun. Let’s see if we can raise even more than the $720 that we raised last time! Please ring Penny G if you have any questions. 0413 506 720

Penny represented our club at the Davistown 100th Anniversary of their hall. The idea was to teach croquet there, assisted by Jan and Gerry. Unfortunately the outdoor activities were postponed but she handed out "Come and Try Croquet" information to many visitors and was runner-up Best Dressed. The mallet drew quite a lot of attention.
